The Tumolo Lab at Northern Michigan University is focused on the role freshwater organisms play in the structure and functioning of ecosystems. Our work addresses questions focused on ecological theory and issues useful to management of aquatic natural resources.

June: The lab was awarded $236,000 as part of a collaborative NSF grant to test how species interactions influence ecological communities across scales and contexts. Position advertisements and further details coming soon!
May: Ben, Gemma, Lindsey, Matt, Stephen, and Art publish a review paper on climate change and insect ecosytem engineering
February: Sam Fritz publishes a first-author paper on freshwater positive interactions in Oikos
January: Kara and Daniel join the lab to conduct undergraduate research
January: Limno-STOICH, a database paper on elemental stoichiometry of inland waters, is published in L&O Letters
